What is the Structure of the IELTS Exam?
The Sections of the IELTS Exam are as Follows:
• Listening: The Listening section lasts 30 minutes. As an international exam, IELTS includes a variety of accents. Instructions and sample questions are provided during the listening.
• Reading: The Reading section takes 60 minutes. The texts are excerpts from books, magazines, and newspapers. Questions vary and may include multiple choice, identifying information, matching headings, sentence completion, summarizing, table completion, and short-answer questions.
• Writing: This section consists of two tasks, with a total duration of 60 minutes. Both essays are completed independently. It is crucial to thoroughly understand the topic, clearly explain it, and provide multiple supporting arguments.
• Speaking: The Speaking section is a one-on-one interview lasting 11-14 minutes, held in a separate session. In the first part, the candidate answers everyday questions. In the second part, the candidate is asked to speak on a specific topic and later respond to related questions. Depending on the test center, the Speaking section can take place before or after the other sections.
