What is YDT (Foreign Language Test)?

This exam is taken by high school graduates to gain admission to university programs that accept students through language exams. It is conducted nationally by ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center). The exam is held in two stages. On Saturday, during the exam in June, all students take the TYT (Basic Proficiency Test) together. In this TYT exam, there are 40 Turkish, 40 Math, 20 Social Sciences, and 20 Science questions. The next day, on Sunday, the YDT (Foreign Language Test) is held, where 80 English questions are asked.

Who can take the YDT (Foreign Language Test) Exam?

All students who are about to graduate from high school or have already graduated can take this exam. Students who have graduated from open high schools and evening high schools are also eligible to take the exam.

How to Succeed in the YDT (Foreign Language Test) Exam?

Students who pass the threshold in the TYT exam, held first, are eligible to take the YDT exam the following day. The university entrance score is determined by combining 40% of the score from the TYT exam and 60% of the score from the YDT exam. For this reason, both exams hold nearly equal importance.
