The Foreign Language Test (YDT), which is part of the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS), is a crucial exam for students in the language department seeking university admission. The YDT is conducted in languages such as English, German, French, Arabic, and Russian, and is of vital importance for candidates who wish to enter departments that accept students based on their language scores. Therefore, YKS/YDT courses offer students an intensive preparation process aimed at success in the exam. 160 Hours of Question-Solving: This provides students with ample opportunity to practice and reinforce their theoretical knowledge. It would be beneficial for this time to be evenly distributed across topics and include questions at different difficulty levels. 144 Hours of Translation and Vocabulary Activities: These activities offer excellent opportunities to enhance language skills. Activities based on real-life scenarios can be planned to expand vocabulary and improve translation abilities. Weekend Class / Weekday Vocabulary Translation: Holding weekend lessons can promote better focus and participation. Weekday vocabulary and translation activities provide daily reinforcement of language skills. The Opposite Approach: Another option is to have classes during the week and open translation (vocabulary) speaking activities for everyone on weekends. In this case, the intensity of weekday lessons can be balanced with more relaxed activities on weekends.
The primary goal of YKS/YDT courses is to provide students with the education necessary to maximize their foreign language knowledge and exam techniques. The courses help students understand the types of questions that will be asked in the exam, improve their language skills, and learn exam strategies. Additionally, by instilling regular and planned study habits, they guide students in managing exam stress and performing at their best during the exam.
YKS/YDT courses offer a rich content in terms of language education and exam preparation. The course program covers grammar topics, vocabulary, reading comprehension exercises, translation techniques, and listening skills. Additionally, students are taught exam techniques through practical exercises and mock exams designed around the types of questions they will encounter in the exam. This content aims to help students become proficient in the language and achieve their best possible performance in the exam.
These courses provide significant benefits to students by helping them improve their language skills, learn exam strategies, and manage exam stress. The mock exams held during the course offer students the opportunity to experience a real exam environment and help them identify their weaknesses through feedback. Participating in YKS/YDT courses provides an effective preparation process for students who want to get ahead in the university admission process and achieve high scores on the language exam.
YKS/YDT courses are aimed at high school students who wish to study in language departments, candidates planning to apply to university programs that admit students based on language scores, and anyone looking to gain proficiency in a foreign language. These courses offer an ideal educational program for those who want to improve their language skills and succeed in the YDT exam.
The YDT exam is held in June. Each year, ÖSYM announces the exact dates and times of these exams in October or November.
Like all students preparing for university exams, those taking the YKS Foreign Language Test (YDT) begin their preparation in the 11th and 12th grades.
Students are provided with an extensive set of publications for foreign language study and are assessed with placement tests. Additionally, they receive a comprehensive set of publications for other subjects and are also tested. Thanks to the guidance service and expert advice, our students gain ample information about universities and all programs. They have the opportunity to participate in study sessions and solve questions every day of the week.
Among the students attending the YDT course in the 11th and 12th grades, 98% are admitted to university programs that accept students based on their language scores. On a national scale, an average of 170,000 to 180,000 students take the YKS Foreign Language Test (YDT) each year.
